Welcome to Seion Chapel’s website!
Covid-19 Update – December 2020
In the light of the changes to the lockdown in Rhondda-Cynon-Taf we have decided to once again suspend Seion’s Sunday morning service and Wednesday night Bible Study. Although we have not been required to do this by the government we have taken this decision to protect members of our congregation and to do what we can to help reduce the likelihood of transmission of Covid-19 in the local community.
All members of our congregation will once again be receiving a service recorded on a CD. Please contact Seion’s pastor if you would also like to receive them.
Covid19 Update – July 2020
Seion Chapel is back open for worship every Sunday at 11am. You are most welcome to join us!
Please note that we have put in place a number of safety measures to seek to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Seion has carried out a risk assessment in the light of the latest government advice.
Please do not attend services if you have a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss of or change to your sense of smell or taste.
Also, when attending Seion, please…
- enter through the side door and follow the one way system
- use the hand sanitisers provided as you enter and leave, and avoid touching surfaces as much as possible
- only sit where you see a green ‘tick’
- maintain social distancing
- don’t be offended if we ask for your contact details in order to support the governments test and trace procedures (records will be destroyed after 3 weeks)
Whilst most of Seion’s usual meetings are by necessity on hold during the pandemic, in addition to the Sunday service we are holding a Bible Study on Wednesday evenings (for which the Covid-19 safety measures also apply), and a Prayer Meeting through telephone conferencing on Monday evenings.
If you are still nervous about being in public places, but would like to ‘join’ us for our worship service, we are still producing recorded services on CDs as we did throughout lockdown. Please contact Seion’s pastor with your details and we will gladly send you a CD each week.
CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE 2020 : We were not able to hold our annual ‘Carols by Candlelight’ Service this year. Please click here to listen to our online Carol Service 2020. We are grateful to EMW (Evangelical Movement of Wales) and Wem Baptist Church for providing the recordings of the Christmas carols. All at Seion wish you and your family a happy and blessed Christmas and New Year.
Seion is an independent evangelical church in the village of Maerdy, which is right at the top of the Rhondda Fach valley in South Wales. Our church community is made up of people from different backgrounds, but we share a common faith in Jesus Christ. As Christians, we have new life in Jesus and are being changed by the grace of God. We want to share this message with others.
Thank you for visiting our website. Please look around to find out more about who we are, what happens at Seion Chapel, and what we believe. But please don’t just look at our website – come and meet us! At Seion all visitors receive a really warm welcome.
